The trick: The cockpit shortcut for swapping Celsius and Fahrenheit. Close enough for OAT, met reports and engine temps — no whiz-wheel needed.
• °F ≈ (°C × 2) + 30
• °C ≈ (°F − 30) ÷ 2
Worked example: OAT 20°C → 2×20 + 30 = 70°F. (Textbook says 68°F — close enough for the cockpit.) Going the other way: 70°F → 70−30 = 40 · ÷2 = 20°C.
How to play. Each round is 12 questions. Start with CADET — Celsius to Fahrenheit, the shortcut one way. Once that's automatic, switch to PILOT — Fahrenheit back to Celsius, the reverse. When both feel second nature, try TOWER — both directions mixed including sub-zero OATs, against the clock with bonus points.
