The trick: the clock-angle rule. Take the angle between the wind and the runway, and read it like minutes on a clock — that's your fraction of the total wind that hits you sideways.
• 15° = 1/4 30° = 1/2 45° = 3/4 60°+ = full
Worked example: Wind 20 kt at 30° off the runway → crosswind = 20 × 1/2 = 10 kt.
How to play. Each round is 12 questions. Start in CADET mode — just turn the angle into the % of total wind that's crosswind. Once that's automatic, move to PILOT — total wind × fraction = crosswind in kt. When the trick is second nature, try TOWER — full ATC scenarios ("Runway 27, wind 240°/24 kt — crosswind?") against the clock, with a bonus for the gnarly 60°+ angles.
